Frequently Asked Questions

When you join us on a Full Story Baltimore tour, you can expect to stretch your legs and stretch your mind, too. We walk together and hear stories for 1.5–2 hours and cover no more than 1.5 miles of ground, mostly city sidewalks. The tour guide uses a headset microphone and portable loudspeaker, so each tour guest can hear the entire tour. Each tour listing (here or through FareHarbor, our secure booking platform) includes specific accessibility information. All of our outdoor tours are open-air, so dress for the weather.

When you book tickets for one of our tours, you will receive the tour meeting location/starting point in your booking confirmation email. If you don’t see this email, check your spam folder. If you don’t see the start location immediately in the confirmation email, be sure to read the small print. None of our tours currently start at the Hampden location (our business address).

We recommend using public transportation or carpooling when possible, because parking in the city can be limited. There is some street parking near the starting point of each tour. We would be happy to provide information about the nearest public transit stops to each of our tours. (If you want to know approximately where a tour starts, so you can plan around it before actually booking tickets, feel free to ask.)

Please plan ahead so you can arrive on time!

If you’re running just a few minutes late, we recommend sending a quick text to 443-765-7158 to let the guide know. If you are running more than a few minutes late, feel free to ask about rescheduling for a later tour, and we would be happy to rebook you!

Bring a raincoat or umbrella! Our walking tours are still fun and engaging in the rain. If the weather is potentially dangerous (lightning, hail, heavy snow, extreme cold, ice), you will get an email from the guide on the morning of the tour (or the day before, for morning tours), to discuss options for rescheduling.

You may absolutely bring a (non-alcoholic) drink with you on our outdoor tours! We would be happy to recommend nearby coffee/tea/hot chocolate shops before and/or after each of our tours.

In fairness to the other tour guests, we only allow service animals on our public tours. We are working on developing dog-friendly tours, however, so stay tuned for that.

Full Story Baltimore tours are not intended for children younger than 13 years old, and some of the historical material on our tours may be unsuitable for young children. Adults, please use your own discretion. The Frederick Douglass’ Fell’s Point tour is our most kid-friendly tour.

You can pay by credit or debit card though our FareHarbor tour booking system, generally up to 2 hours before the tour starts.

If you would prefer to pay by check, send an email to ek@fullstorybaltimore.tours to reserve your spot on the tour, and bring a check for $15 per regular adult and $12 per student (or $20/$15 for Revolution in Baltimore Town), made out to Full Story Baltimore, to the start of the tour. We do not accept cash payment for tickets at the time of the tour.

If you have one of our gift cards, you can use that to pay for tour tickets. Click on “Apply a gift card” under the total amount on the right-hand side of the tour booking form.

Tips are welcome and appreciated! Your tour guide Emma Katherine works hard to be engaging. Tips help to support the development of future tours.

(If you went on a tour and wanted to tip but weren’t able to, at the time, here are ways to do so! Thanks!)

Yes! Click here for more information, including prices.

Current policy (spring 2026): If you can get a group of four (4) or more people together, for one of the tours currently running, we’ll schedule an additional public tour for you (if it works with our schedule). Let us know!

No. (Emma Katherine says: Not anymore.) Baltimore has plenty of ghost tours run by other companies, particularly Baltimore Ghost Tours, and also Poe’s Magic Theatre! Our tours aim to show that historical legacies can be just as unnerving and fascinating as ghost stories, in this city.

No. We believe in showing that there is MUCH more to Baltimore than that television series.

We believe in making this history accessible to everyone. And if the tour ticket price ($20/$15 for Revolution in Baltimore Town, $15/$12 for all our other tours) is too much for you but you would definitely come on a tour, ask us about being added to the test run pool for new tours.

We don’t advise this, because we use ticket sales to keep track of tour guest numbers. If you aren’t able to come on a tour but want to help support Full Story Baltimore, here are ways to do so! Thank you!

Absolutely! Send an email to ek@fullstorybaltimore.tours to ask about rebooking your ticket.

Outdoor walking tours are a relatively covid-cautious/low-risk activity, but you are more than welcome to wear a mask on our outdoor tours.

On indoor tours, tour guests are encouraged to wear face masks (covering both their nose and mouth) during the tour. The tour guide will be masked, and mic’d to improve audibility.

If you are ill with Covid, influenza, or another contagious illness on the day of the tour, PLEASE stay home. Send an email to ek@fullstorybaltimore.tours to discuss your options for refunding or rescheduling.

Give us a call at (443) 765-7158 or email at info@fullstorybaltimore.tours.
